Another ghillie ?
« on: October 09, 2009, 09:49:00 PM »
I have decided to get a rancho safari shaggie, but need some advice.  Should I get the longcoat with leg gaitors or the ultra lite jacket and pants?  I'm leaning towards the longcoat, that way I can just pack it in to where I'm going to hunt then put it on.  Just wanted your opinions on the pros and cons.   Thanks, Sam

I've got the longcoat, no leg gaitors...don't see a need for them...and I always pack it in.  You'll have a hard time walking in wearing it without getting snagged on every branch and bush in the area. The longcoat pretty well covers most of you while sitting. I would shy away from the jacket and pants option...I believe the pants would be a pain to get on over boots out in the field. JMHO.

I've owned the longcoat (you do not need the leg gaitors) at least nine years.. I do exactly what your planning.. I carry it in put it on and disappear.  Deadly as it gets.

How long does it take to get the shaggie coat in? I ordered mine 12 days ago & it still has not come in. Called a few times just to get the answer machine.

I don't have the Rancho ghillie, mine is from another company, but I agree with the above statements, get the long coat. I have the pants and top and the pants are next to impossible to walk in. They hang on every thorn, twig, branch, etc...
My next one will be a long coat style.
