S. Texas Bucks
« on: October 13, 2009, 07:56:00 PM »
Here are a few "fly over" survey photos from my brothers ranch in South Texas.  Im headed there in November,   plan on staying at least a week, maybe more, unless he kicks me out first!

This may well be my first "traditional" hunt, depending on if I get time to go before here in Alabama.   Would be nice to have any of these bucks as my "first".

South Texas is an awesome place to hunt!

Amount of game. Variety of game. Possiblity of some encounters with BIG animals!!!

If you haven't been there it is something to put on the "bucket list!"

Paul,  its about 45 minutes S. of Cotulla.   This will be my first trip, although my brother has owned the place for about 10 years.   He as done alot of hard work managing and maintaining.   IF it werent for my kids being here in Alabama,  I would actually move down there as I love the climate and topography of the area.

Now,  ive just got to really work on my shooting skills.

Impossible to believe the big heavy racks on so many Texas deer. Our heavy deer dress under 175#. Any bigger & they're lost and have a Northern accent. Much land here is private & managed & expensive to hunt. Good luck.

Proper management does wonders, my brother has busted his ass on that place for 10 years.   In that 10 years, they have put alot of body on judging by the photos ive seen from the past.   Racks have always been crazy big though, even back then.

Not sure what County its in,  will ask.

that should be in LaSalle county. My brother hunted in Cotulla for years. Great hunting. The
two ranches that I am invited to are located
in George West, and Sarita.

thanks all,   luckily this ranch is my brothers "hobby".  He has been blessed to have a real good job,  he doesnt hunt his ranch out.  He has freinds/family and some business associates hunt.

Im really looking forward to going out there,  again its not just the deer that draws me, but that dry,  twisted, thorny yet beutifull (in my eyes) S. Texas landscape.
