Home target range faces
« on: October 13, 2009, 10:28:00 PM »
I'm building a multi-target range on my 6 acre property and would like some ideas on target faces.  I've made up 6-7 large feed sack targets stuffed with plastic wrap and hung around the property from low hanging limbs.  I've hung them lengthwise so I imagine a deer silouette, pig, etc. would work when attached to the bags with pins.  Eventually I'd like about 15 or more targets to walk in a course like a 3-d range.

I was thinking of cutting them out of cardboard and varnishing the silouettes to waterproof them a little or maybe just painting them brown or black.

Another idea was to cut them from insulation foam board and paint them.

Any other ideas or suggestions?  I shot around at the blank bags yesterday and that was pretty fun and you really have to pick a spot.  I thought the silouettes would be more fun though.

You could get you some of that burlap cheap from the wal mart fabric dept and paint animal shapes on them.  You could shoot those for a long time before you had to replace something.

just got through making a foam 3D pig... system worked well.  I used burlap and a painted on wash of Titebond II to put a shell on it.   You might see something that you can apply...
