« on: October 14, 2009, 03:07:00 PM »
I'm going to be in Cynthina, north of Lexington for a hunt with Earl Gossett at Licking River outfitters Nov. 9-11. I'll be off for a week and my out of stste lic. will be for the year so my ? is is there any other hunting around there a hunter can get into for the remainder of the week if I haven't filled my tags or maybe meet up with some of the other trad gang members that may be in the area. Thanks Eddie Hampton

Good dates to be huntin. The rut should be in or kickin in.

There are several wildlife management areas within easy driving distance. Take Eddie's advice and check out our state website.

I live close to an hour from there, northeast. But I will be going to Brookings, SD to get my youngest boy moved back to KY. The wife and I will leave on the 7th. One problem with KY rednecks: they can't stay away from KY for too long. He lasted a year there, but no more.

The rut will be on... and the gun season too.

Check the KY F&W dept. as e alexander suggested. There are few wma's close by.

God bless and good luck to you.

Jose

Check out Clay WMA, it's pretty close to Cynthiana.  There is also Kleber and Rich WMA's in Owen county, about an hour drive north.  There are more deer in that area than at Clay but I always see deer at Clay.  I can't remember when the gun hunt goes this year (haven't even looked at the book) but if gun season is going on a great place to be is on a WMA as they don't allow gun hunting during regular season.  If you decide to go to Rich give me a shout and I'll point you in the right direction.  If I get to take any vacation during that time you're welcome at my place, it's in Owen county and right across the road from Rich WMA.

I just checked the gun season dates. You will be OK because gun season starts on the 14th.

Good luck.

God bless,

Jose

PS I wished I could be around. If any changes on my trip I will let you know.
