Va deer season so far
« on: October 18, 2009, 03:53:00 PM »
Bow season in Va has been open for three weeks now. I've manages to make it out every saturday with my dad since openin day. My dad ( Always89) tore his rotator cuff over the summer so he is not hunting traditionaly at the moment, he hopes to have it fixed by next year.
Openin mornin we went to our little plot of land in Appomattox county. We both had chances at deer, my dad missed with his piece of machinery and my chance was blown when the deer spotted my drawong back. So no deer openin day.
The next wekend we went to our favorite local WMA Raggid Island, because of my grades the week before my parents decided to switch my bow with a camera. No deer were spotted that weekend but i did get a couple of pictures.
Shed antler i found walkin in.

 Area i was overlooking.

 Lunch.

Yesterday we headed back out for Raggid Island.
We both saw deer and i had a close incounter with a little doe, but once again, she managed to avoid recieving an arrow.I have a couple of pictures from yesterday to.
This is a picture of one of the does i saw at 50 yards, the picture was with my camera so i could only zoom so much. She is directly in the middle of the picture, head on.

This is my favorite bow, a Bruin "Master" 62" 50@28.

All in all it was a good weekend.

On a side note, please excuse me if the pictures arent the right size im new to posting them and am still working out the process.
Aim small, miss small

I've been sittin in the woods with my dad since i was 4. I didnt actually start hunting until I was about 8 though and i harvested my first deer at 11. At 15 years old i've been lucky enough to already have 4 deer in the bag(2 traditional and 2 muzzle loader) and 11 years of in-woods experience. Between my dad and my grandpa i've lucked out.
