Elk outfitter recommendations
« on: October 21, 2009, 07:43:00 AM »
I would like to get out to the Rockies and go on an Elk hunt in the next couple of years, and am looking for some recommendations on outfitters.  I don't have the experience for a D.I.Y. kind of hunt, so I think a guided hunt would be a good idea for the first year.

I'm looking for a pack in type of hunt, not a fancy lodge or anything like that.  Any ideas?

Give Mark Horne a call.  He guides for his brother in CO every year and they have good success and great reviews.

My brother owns Bar-H Outfitters in Meeker, Colorado.

I have been hunting and guiding with him for the past 11 years and we have had great success.

This is a horseback in hunt the camps are set up ready for you.

They offer both drop camps and fully guided camps.

Take a look at their website  www.barhoutfitters.com   If you have any questions please feel free to call me at 940-433-3044.

Randy and Jeanne Horne are top notch people, I don't see how one could go wrong by giving them a call.

Check out Bob Sundeen from Full Circle Outfitters.  He guides out of Cody, Wyoming and you'll see some of the best elk country around.  You'll leave the trailhead on horseback and ride to remote camp where there are numerouse wall tents, showers, stoves, and all the fixins.  It's a one of kind experience.
