Stewart One Piece SL (Slammer) Longbow

Just curious. Does anyone know what is the longest length a Stewart one piece SL (Slammer) hybrid longbow comes in? I'm interested in a 68" length, but can't find any info on the length of this particular model on Stewart's website.

I have a 68" 1 piece Slammer, I really love it.  I live close by Leon, and know and have seen 70" or 71-2" 3 piece take down from him. I think he'll do 70" 1 piece, One phonee call to him will settle the question.

Thanks for your reply. Since I already have a 68" Belcher Longhorn, a 70" hybrid longbow might just tickle my fancy, but another 68" hybrid longbow from a different bowyer would be okay with me.       Now, if he can make it at the poundage I want at my 30" drawlength, that would seal the deal.    :D  I'll give him a call and if I can get hold of him, see what he has to say.

I notice you shoot in the low 40's #  mine is 44@ 28 and has very good cast and draw is smooth at that length, he's been doing alot of tiger maple lately for the limbs, mine is yew & maple the yew is beautiful and the maple stained to match. His buckskin grip and stitching is one of the best in he market.

I have a 68 inch mild R/D longbow form Leon, it is like 11 years old.  It is made of all Yew limbs.  It is 47 at 28, I shoot a fuzz over 30 inches, so it is like 52 - 53 at my draw.  It is the sweetest shooting bow I own!!  It is also the quietest bow.  Below 40 decibels at 10 yards, and barely over 40 at 5 yards!  It shoots a 500 grain arrow at 175 FPS.  Awesome bow!!!

I talked to a fella at Whittingham N.J. that had Stewart that was 37# at his draw and it had to be 68". I think he can do what ever you want and are willing to pay for!!!

I found on his order form he makes the one piece Slammer in a 70" length. It also comes with a fast flight string. The fast flight is a no-no for me. I shoot aluminum arrows that are 32" long, BOP. I don't like carbon arrows because they don't come in a 32" length for a 35# bow. I need to shoot a plain jane B50 non fast flight bowstring. I would ask him to replace the fast flight bowstring with a non fast light bowstring.

As for the 35# poundage. I like this poundage because I want to do lots of 2-3 hours long target shooting plus this poundage would easily take down a few rabbits, a few bullfrogs and a javelina or two.      

With a non fast flight B50 bowstring; a 70", 35# @ 30" Slammer would seem to like a 32", BOP 2213 aluminum arrow tipped with a 185 grain point weight. The point weight would include the 30 grain RPS insert, the 36 grain Zwickey long broadhead adapter and a 125 grain two blade glue on broadhead. After the broadhead is sharpened, it should be around 120 grains. The finished arrow should be around 530 grains with a 14.2% FOC and it would also give me 15.14 grains per pound.

My other concern is the grip. I've got small hands and I like a medium size grip. I don't like big wide grips like some bows have like some of the older Chek Mate bows.

Night Wing, I think you will like the grip on Leon's bows.  It does have a bit of palm swell, but is thin at the throat, it is most like a medium wrist grip in my opinion.  IT is very comfortable and you do not have to think about it, makes you a better shot.  Leon's bows are built so well, they "add pounds" meaning the shoot fast, I think faster than most other bows of similar poundage.  Your long draw and the heavy arrow may be real quiet and surprisingly fast.

If I order this bow, I will order it with bamboo limbs covered by black glass. I've only seen one photo of the bow fully strung and I do like the looks of it. I have a feeling at 70" long, it will come with a 24" riser. I do like the looks and weight of a dymondwood cocobolo riser.
