Carbon Arrows... Questions.
« on: October 24, 2009, 09:11:00 PM »
Hey all:

I, a few years back, shot carbons off of one of my longbows and loved them. I went back to woodies after a buddy found a great fletcher (who no longer makes arrows) now I am finally down to the last of the arrows in my arsenal and am looking back to carbons for the durability. My question is to all of you who shoot carbons and undErstand them better than I do. I shoot a Robertson Falcon 4 recurve, 62" 53#@28" What arrow would you recommend if I would like to shoot heavy points (125 grain brass broad head adapters and a 145 grain point) or something it that area.

I have carbonwood 3000's with a 100 gr brass insert, a 100 gr steel screw in taper adapter with a 145 gr two blade broadhead.  I left the arrows full length...they fly so well all I see is the yellow nock going to the target.  I found that combo works out of 3 different bows I have ranging from 53# to 58#
I use 3 fletches with them being 4" long and cut on a chopper for a slightly higher profile.

Hope this helps you.

depending on your arrow length you will need a 300 to 400 spline arrow bare shaft tune it I like to tune shooting threw paper or paper tuning as they call it. I shot 29 inch cx 45-60 witch are a 400 spline with a 125gr head with alum insert I draw 26 inch 51 lb and shot them at 29 to weaken the spline and they were still a little to heavy on the spline. I think they would work for you.
