It is the performer that later became known as the Hybrid.

...the hybrid formerly known as "long curve", AKA semi-recurve. Do a search on either of those terms, you are not the first with the Eternal Question.
(Which came first...  ;)  )

Recurve riser, R/D limbs. Now known as Hybrid, 50 years ago was called a long-curve. Like Killie said, it has been coming around alot this month.

To be a legal longbow the string cant touch the belly when braced.

Crooked only means legal in regard to some competiion rules. Many of which state something like "string cannot contact the belly for more than 1 inch at each end when braced" I have an old archery handbook that described "working recurves" as having 2 inches or more of string contact when braced" at the time I don't think many people were making or using static recurved tips and the authors kind of left any distinction between working recurves and static recurves undefined.

I must be looking at a different pic than everyone else 'cause  all I see is a recurve.

What I see is probably a reflex/deflex hybrid longbow.  Reflex/deflex defining the curve of the limbs.  Hybrid referring to the recurve-like locator grip/riser.  It has to be strung in order to know for sure.  As mentioned above, if the string doesn't touch the limbs, when strung, it's a longbow.  If the string touches, it's a recurve.  Either way, it's a trad bow.

I agree with above, that it is a recurve, Bear pearson made a lot of curves like that and sold them as such. Shawn

I believe once it's strung and brace height set, it will be a r/d longbow-hybrid, whatever it's called. LOL!

Doesn't look like it would be a recurve, unless the limbs are static, by looking at the picture.

DING, DING, DING...we have a winner folks
The bow is a old Ben Pearson, Varsity recurve, AMO 60", 30XX#@28".
I'll post a picture of it strung, hopefully tomorrow.
I found this to be an interesting little poll.  I was never quite sure what made a R/D longbow compared to a long recurve.  Thanks for your input.

I would say a recurve also but it is of deflex/reflex design not reflex/deflex!!!
