Newbie Selecting Arrows

I picked out some arrows for my #40 @28" recurve...

Should I get the 4 or 500 arrow spine?

Also the feathers on the arrows I have now hit the riser and are getting torn up. Is this just a spine problem, or could it be a unfixable problem? I just want to be sure my new arrow won't do the same thing or I will get a rest and use vanes instead of feathers.

Go with the 500 spine and as for the arrows hitting the shelf it is fixable it can be spine, brace height or your nocks may just need turned a little.

I forgot to add that you will need to add weight to your arrows.  You'll want to try to get them to around at least 400 gr. so they'll absorb the energy of your bow, otherwise it'll be like dryfiring it.

I forgot to mention I draw 29-29.5" so I would probaly want at least a 30" arrow. Also I would probaly be drawing like 41-42# right? So its kind of imbetween spines...

You can go with 500 and front load til then fly right.  The contact is because the spine is to stiff.

Connie is shooting 40 @ 26 and we are using 600 spine carbons.
