Rattle can - Minwax Helmsman, easy to apply & sets up tough. Is easy to touch up also. Goes on right out of the can. A little easier for the guy doing an occasional skinning job.

Spray equipment - Thunderbird, all of the reasons above. BUT . . . it takes a little experimentation/ adjustment (read as thinning) to get it to lay on right. More critical re. humidity etc. Some experience w/ spray painting & mixing helps here.
