black widow with a machined riser????

I ran across a black widow that had a machined riser ( like some of the compounds ),  It was painted black all over and had some of the B/W spider string silencers.    
 Is this thing for real or some body try'n to pass off a imposter???

I have an older Black Widow HS model that has a metal riser. They haven't been made in a long time. They actually offered two different metal risers, but if the one you found is all black, it's probably the HS. Shoot it if you can, they're very stable. They don't show up for sale too often. Depending on the price, you might even want to buy it. Nice find.

If I remember it was $300, 70# @28.     Alotta weight to pull but figured they mite build a set of limbs or maybe find some that will trade out.

I rechecked, It said it was an HF in the addvertisement, I got a phone# and gonna call shortly just to find out.

You guys may want to read some archery history.

The first takedowns by Black Widow were aluminum riser models...HF 1225 and T 1225.  Black Widow didn't make a wood riser takedown until Ken Beck bought the company.  The Wilson Brothers, original owners and manufacturers, made some of the best takedown recurves ever made....and they were metal.  They were very popular in the early 1970's on the target circuit, and many hunters liked them as well.

By the way....metal riser takedowns were available in 1952 from Grimes and Par-X.

What Geoge said. I had two of these, fine shooters. If you want different poundage limbs, you will have to buy them used, they dont have the forms to make these anymore. I have a buddy who has one for sale, 2 sets of limbs, #46 and #55, all flat black with original case and new string. I killed 3 deer last year with it, The #46 limbs,no problems. I sold this one to him to get him into trad this year, since he has decided he likes a long bow better. He gave me $350 for it, said he would sell it shipped to anyone for the same money. Pm me back if interested, this is a real deal.

Ken Beck bought it in 1982 from one of the Employees who had taken it over from the original owners...the Wilsons, in 1979.
