Hows everybodys season in New York thus far?
« on: November 23, 2009, 12:26:00 PM »
Well for me its been rather dry with limited deer sightings I think mainly due to the warm weather. Now that the guns are going off I havent seen much deer movement but im hoping to score in the late season when we have some snow.

On a good note I did help my Mom get a nice doe opening day of shotgun season. Its her first deer in a few years so we were both very happy. How about you guys?

Nothing yet.  I passed up a 2 1/2 year old nine pointer.  Saw a couple of other bucks, but came in range.

It's been pretty good for me. I've taken a buck, doe, and turkey with my longbow thus far. I also passed up a 2 1/2 year old 100" buck. I've been very lucky to have had deer sightings almost every trip out.

Didn't get any shots while bow hunting.  I wish I was bow hunting during rifle.  Had many does withion 10 yards and one spike buck.  Didn't shoot though because I didn't have a doe tag and the landowner doesn't want spikes shot.  I saw 26 deer opening weekend.  I will be headed to WI for the next two weeks.

Been hunting a fair amount, over 85 hours in the woods. So far I have seen a fisher and one deer.

Family obligations have kept me home, but it's ok I worked on improving my arsenal. 2 Dale Dye's and one Morrison Cheyenne (limbs in a week) so I ain't doing too bad. I'll have to hang on till spring Turkey.

Got my first deer ( a nice little 6-point) in 7 years of hunting. Took it on November 12th in the northern zone. Also missed a shot on a yearling on October 30th in the Southern Zone. Over all, I've seen 12 deer and around 7 turkeys this season.

My season as far as sightings has been ,for the most part, maybe down a little. I think the fact that I can't choose when I can hunt, and can't take time off of work is the biggest factor for me this year.

Seemed like all of the best weather days, as far as being cold, where during the week. Weekends were warm and rainy this year.

Deer also had food everywhere! Acorns crop was tremendous! So they really didn't have to go far to find something to eat. But it was fun hunting the acorns!

Although I haven't had a shot at one of the good bucks I was after, I certainly won't complain about my fall season.

Turkey, 2 does, and a coyote

This weeekend might be a little better for us. I was just watching the weather their calling for wet snow, hopefully some of it will stick around longer then a day.
