Season Stats and Expectations
« on: November 25, 2009, 05:00:00 PM »
I recently tallied up my hours hunting and scouting for the year (early season archery is finished here in WI) and have been reflecting on the results.  I had certain expectations at the beginning of the season and I must say I did not reach my goals at all.

So, I was thinking based on the effort I put forth, were my expectations realistic?  Did my season success reflect the effort I put in, or was it slanted one way or another?  Then I got to thinking if others analyze there seasons in this way and what some of their conclusions were.

So if any of you keep records of time spent and animals seen and taken I would love to hear some of the stats.  Are you satisfied with the season results?  Do you need to make changes for next year?  Any other thoughts?

I know these are not apples to apples comparisons but I would just like to see what kind of time other guys put into the hunt and what their results are for the effort.

As people chime in I will give my hours and season results, as long as it is not too embarrassing:~)  Mostly just curious as to how much others put into their season time and effort wise.

I understand what you are saying.  And please don't get me wrong, I believe the hunt and how it is conducted is of utmost importance.

I also know bowhunting is HARD, I like it that way, I don't want it any other way.  However, at the end of the season I am a hunter that wants enough meat in the freezer to carry me until next year.  I also really want experience and to grow as a bowhunter, and the only way to do this is by getting close to and taking game.  That is what I am getting at.

I have experienced success and satisfying hunts without "getting" anything, more times than not that is the result.  I am just looking to get an idea of what kind of effort guys who are "succssful" year in and year out put into their season.
