Gun season here in Iowa starts Dec. 4th. That means this weekend is the last weekend for "early" bow season. We can pick up the sticks again Dec. 21 until Jan 10.
I'm lucky enough to be able to hunt my in-laws farm. We've (my brother in law) and I have had good success hunting it, but this year its been tough.
There's some new guys hunting the property just to the north of us and their stands are bordering our property. Most likely they are shooting deer on land they don't have permission to hunt even though their stands on the correct portion of land. Oh well, nothing I can do about that.
South of my house, theres an area of CRP, scrub brush and small trees with TONS of rubs and scrapes. I just hung a blind out there with my wife and will be in it tonight with my stick bow. This area of the farm has never been hunted before because we never had a real good way to do it, save a ground blind.
Since we haven't had much luck this year in the buck department, I'm going to try this new spot. Anyone else out throwing out hail mary's since we getting closer to the end of the season and it's now post-rut?
