Ken, check with your bowyer before you get too set on a wood. Some of that beautiful stuff just doesn't do well in a bow. The RER I had earlier this year was beautiful but the Ebony checked and I was told that was typical. I had one bow with Sassafras limb veneers that didn't work out and the bowyer wouldn't use that again. Just something to think about.
p.s. Hope to ship your arrows tomorrow.
Mike

Hey thanks Mike.  I was a little concerned about some of the wood not working for a bow, especially the stress in the limbs.  What do you mean when you say the Ebony checked?

thanks,
Ken

black and white ebony is pricey and takes forever to dry....i believe checking is when the wood is not dry enough and has a finish put over it...i may be wrong....here is a beautiful black and white ebony treadway i had at one time....loved that riser..

the spalted woods are actually woods with decay i believe and need to be stabilized.... spalted maple and spalted sycamore look cool..but you'll want to check with the bowyers for sure!

jacobsladder, that treadway is beautiful! I really like that stained maple on the firefly!  I've always liked quilted maple but don't like the cream color.  I'd like to see some of that with a walnut stain.  I'm probably gonna have to rule out the ebony and spalted maple but I'm gonna give Vince a ring and see what he says.
