torges seats ..who has the best design!

i want to build a torges seat in the worst way!
can you show me some differant styles, and custom stuff you did to improve the design?

im a big guy. so i think im gonna need a thicker piece of wood, and maybe wider as well.

I have used Dean's plans and then made mods to it. I went wider and deeper to fit my butt. I also put a foam pad on for longer sits,I even cut one in half and put hinges to make it fold so it would fit in my pack for longer hikes back in. Just think what you need from the seat and make it fit your hunting style or the size of your fanny...lol. I also went thicker with the plywood on a couple but it did not seem to make much differance,just made it heavier. The seat works well in my opinion!

Mine seat is 18” x 18”. This size gives me some wiggle room and allows enough space so I can lean back against the tree (or slouch) rather than being forced to sit up straight the whole time I’m hunting. There is a foam cushion on it too. I also put rope loops in the seat to hook a cargo strap to. I hook a cargo strap into one loop, throw the strap around the tree and hook the other end into the other loop and adjust the strap to the needed length.

I saw this on another site, it was designed by a fellow with the screen name of GUYZER and I thought it was one of the best rope adjust ideas ever.

Dean's ol' contraption wotks pretty good with some modifications. It needs some cleats back where the seat fits against the tree to prevent slippage. I used the cross piece of several exhaust clamps for this. Rope was a little irritating on the rump so I used a 1x4" crossways underneath the seat to attatch the rope to. Sooooo much better! Oh, and it helps to carry a lag bolt to use to screw under the rope on the back of the tree to prevent the rope from slipping there. Sorry, no pics at present. ART

Mine is pretty standard, I did add a piece of SJO electrical cord jacket to the part that rests against the tree. Keeps it from slipping.

Since I gave up the tree stand, I used the seat part of my climber stand. Took of all the extra crap and use a rope. Fits perfect on the back of Badlands Pack. It weighs a lot less then a Plywood seat too. I have a seat pad that fits it as well.

I was never a Boy Scout and suck at tying knots so I had to fix mine so it is knotless ! I simple did as others showed me and drilled TWO holes on one side of the seat. Walk up to the tree, slide rope around while holding the seat tilted up about 20 degrees, then run the loose end of rope thru one hole, back up or down thru the other hole,( doesn't matter which way you go, up or down ), then stick the tag end of the rope back thru the loop formed by the rope going thru the two holes in the seat and pull snug. When you put your weight on the seat the tension will level the seat and the rope will bite into itself and NO knots to tie ! If you missed on the angle you can simple ease up and push the base of the seat a tad lower on the tree increasing the angle and reset for the correct angle. When it is time to go home I have the rope marked with a sharpie on where to set the rope to make a bandolier loop and sling it over your shoulder for the walk out. Love Dean's seat, it is awesome and so simple. Thanks for sharing it with us Dean !
