I think those are some of the prettiest deer on this continent.  And ive only ever seen them in the pictures.  Congratulations on one beautiful animal.

What a pig of a blacktail!  Very nice!

Congrats again Ron.

I'm heading out tomorrow with your advice in mind.

9:00 am til dark, if I can stand the 17 degree temps.

Picked up 20 packs of hand and body warmers and battery operated socks.

Thanks mate! My sweater and KOM Trapper shirt went right back on in a hurry after the pics.

This week the highs are colder then last weeks lows. A lot of Oregon fella's are out trying to bag a deer or elk this week, I don't envy them having to be out there.      :campfire:

Most the BT deer you see on TV are southern Oregon or NoCal animals. Usually they have small bodies and big antlers.  Northern Oregon and Washington have bucks with big bodies and much heavier antlers. Look through the trailcam thread at some of the bucks myself and Santiam have been lucky to capture on cam. I prefer the big northern bucks for some reason.     :readit:

That's for sure Tree Killa!

Some of those blacktail bucks on the trail cam thread are monsters!

They're not storin' any of that Oregon spent nuclear fuel around that area are they?

;~)

Congratulations on a fine blacktail, Ron!  I sure do love those dark antlers on the blacktails.  A mighty handsome trophy!

It's no wonder why the blacktails are all over on the west side - it must feel like Bermuda!

It's 3 degrees F here in the Tri Cities, WA while its 25 degrees F over at Sandy, OR.  Just a 3 hour drive to the west....

I hope that those bucks winter well Ron and that you pick some dandy sheds in the spring of 2010!

Congrats Ron! He's a dandy!

I'm hoping for something similar this weekend.

Shinken...It was 5* at my house Wednesday. Been below 0 where my trailcam was and where I like to shed hunt. About 5 more weeks and I'll start looking for brownies!

Thanks Jerry!  Been watching the cyberwaves to see if/when you let the air out of a Blacktail, good luck this weekend.

BTW...I had a fresh tarsal gland hanging near the tree, and the buck came in downwind.

Great buck as usual!
