Irish Archer

I just read the article in TBM but lost my magazine. I haven't tapered a shaft in over 20 years.

I'm trying to taper the point end of a solid fiberglass fish arrow so that I can install an 11/32", 125 gr point like in the article.

I have an 11/32 taper tool. The shaft measures .310 of an inch, which is really close to 5/16 (.3125) The taper tool cut the nock end just fine. But, it won't cut the point taper no matter how hard I push.

What am I missing. I feel pretty goofy right now. Am I going to have to order a 5/16 taper tool and some 5/16, 125gr points?....  :banghead:

You need an abrasive wheel to cut that fiberglass. If you are using an archery taper tool you are trying to cut fiberglass with a razor blade. It would work for long.
