« on: December 12, 2009, 11:05:00 PM »
got a pack of these...really look like a great head.... come fairly sharp... want to touch them up a tad more on the diamond stone..

does anyone know for sure ..is it better to draw them backwards on the flat stone or push forwards.....thanks ahead of time.

i do them pushing forwards
start with 3 stokes a side, then rotate them 2 strokes a side, then a series of one stroke and rotate getting lighter on the pressure until only using the weight of the head until done.
There is more to the Hunt.. then the Horns

I go back and forth a few times and flip it, do the next side and flip it and finish up like Andy with the single light push forward. You're going to like those 3 blade on deer Steve.

I took 2 deer and my dad took 2 this year with VPA Terminators.  I think my dad uses the stones from his KME sharpener to sharpen our heads.  All four were complete pass thrus with incredible blood trails.  I know he has made a little tool to hold the broadheads and he pulls from the back of the blades to the front tip.  He also strops them on a barbers leather strop glued to a block.  I shoot 175's and he was shooting both 250 wides and the 300gr prototypes.  Not sure what he killed his with.

I do both.  Mix it up to get the hair shaving sharpness that isn't all that hard with these heads.

I could write a book on how much I like these heads.

For over a decade in my compound days my buddies and I always wanted a solid machined steel broadhead.  Nothing ever came along that tickled my fancy, until these.  Dang solid head that stays sharp after busting bone.

Good luck
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!
