I will throw Iowa into the mix. I can hunt whitetail, tree rats, bunnies, groundhogs, turkeys, coons, pheasants and yotes out my backdoor. Bobcats in southern part of the state as well! I think the season is pretty long(October 1-mid January). We can not hunt with a stick and string for about 3 weeks in early December during shotgun season. Coyotes are hunted year round.
If you are not blessed with land, not much for public land if put up to other states.
My landowner tags are over the counter and very cheap. I think resident tags are around $25-28 each. Non-resident whitetail is a loto and cost a lot!
Good state to hunt if you are already here. My hubby is a mountain climber and dreams of Colorado. Maybe someday! I think I will keep my timber in Iowa for eery Novemeber no mater what!
