Gold Tip tuning questions......

I'm a newbie shooting a Toelke Whip 64" 47#@28" with my draw of 29.5" Arrows are 30.5"

The points I have are 175 grains. If I was shooting a 125 grain head, how do you get the increased weight in front? A heavier insert? I've also heard that some people like a heavier arrow out of the Whip. What would be the advantages, disadvantages of a heavier arrow? What about advantages disadvantages of a heavier point up front? I'm learning but it has been slow. I'm trying to get ready for hogs in late January. If someone has a similar setup I'd love to hear your arrow specs. Thanks!

By the way, I've been using 5575 Gold Tip traditionals.

My longbows are all in the mid 50-59lb range and I shoot Gold tip 35/55 out of them with 175 Gr points and 100 gr brass inserts and they fly great. The arrows are kept full length at my 28inch draw. They fly great. You draw an inch and a half more than me so you might try using heavier point and insert weight in the 55/75 gold tips.

35/55 would be a better choice, if you want to keep the tip weight under 225 grains.

5575 at that length way too stiff for most bows.
3555 or new 1535 would be better.

I’m shooting a 64”, 49# @ 28” Holm-made longbow at 29.5“. With full length shafts the 55-75 I have 300 gr. Up front and on the 35-55 I shoot 225 gr. On the front end. They both shoot like darts out to 25 yards and thats all i need.

To increase the wt up front you have a couple of options.  You could use brass inserts 50 or 100 grns.  The other option is use Gold Tip wt adapters which screw into the back of the insert.  They are stackable so you can get to what ever wt you desire.

i shoot 3355 gold tips uncut 100 grain brass insert 145 grain head  fly like darts out of 62" 49@29 hybred longbow the extra weight upfront dose not seem to matter

I shoot a 500/3555 spine arrow 30" long with 245 on the front from my 45@28 drawn to 30".  I need some longer arrows as soon as I break or loose the ones I have. I shoot my 51@28 drawn to 30" with a 30" arrow with 300 gr. on front of 5575 GT trad.  I just cut some new ones for that bow that are 31 1/2" and they are close with 200 up front.   I am shooting for 225 on the front so maybe someplace around 31".  My bows and arrows do not compute on Stu's calculator.  They do once I get my arrow spine, but the arrow doesn't calculate for the bow.  I am running about 10# light on spine with my arrows.  Both bows cut to center and R/D LB's with very good cast.  I can shoot stiffer, but this is who they way they like it best, shoot where I look.  To many shooter and bow variables to calculate.  Always start long and work down with different point weights.
