There's a great book call "The Jungle Hunter" by Joe Cavanaugh who is/was a construction worker that would save his money for 8 months and when he got laid off in the winter would head to South America hunting for 4 months (Hey Jon Simoneau, something you would like). He hunted with beat up old shotguns but if you can get shotgun close you can get bow close 9 out of 10 times. He killed everything from Whitetails to Taper to tasty Paca's. Even got a small Jaguar. It's a great book with info on game, outfitting yourself, and hazards (there are many, how's spanish?) Best advise, don't take anything with you you don't mind leaving behind. If I didn't have an 8 and 10 year old, goodbye winter.
