How do yall put cat wiskers on your string?

Well first I heavily sedate the cat....

I use one of those nylon tie-raps to secure
the bundle to the string, then I whip the bundle with
thread and  carefully  cut off the tie-wrap.

Im not the guy in the vid above. Just where I learned how to apply my silencers.

Im using the zip tie in place of the serving material for now. I'm just trying to see how long it last before the tie breaks off. So far Ive been good for about 50 shots. Weather hasn't held up for more testing. I think it will last just fine.

I put my cat whiskers on with dental floss like Ron LaClair does. Do a search for it in the Pow Wow forum. He had some instructions and pictures posted that if followed results in a nice round ball of whiskers that works great.

I have always just tied each piece directly on the string with a simple overhand knot and never had any  problems. usually I fold it in half lengthwise which seems to make it easier to tie. if it looks to floppy i somtimes trim it. I have to admit it doesnt look as nice as the round little ball you get by tying it on.

I cut my cat whisker in half and cut in half again to make 4 pieces..I put 2 on each end of the string.

I roll the whiscker around the string in a cylinder shape.Hold the cylinder together and clamp with a clothes pin or something.I tie on with heavy braided fishing line with overhand knots.I go from one side of the string to other and back again one more time on each side of  string.This makes them stay on tight.But you can still move them up and down the string looking for the perfect spots.Cinge ends of braided line with lighter to keep from fraying after cutting them.

I have also used artificial sinew to tie them on.It works well.i prefer braided fishing line or super line in 60# or more.So i can pull a very tight knot without breaking the line.

Works for me.

Serve to small point  about a 1/4" apart then lay the whiskers on the string with the center in between the servings and then serve around the center it will fan them out.lay the whiskers so they are parallel to the string around the whole string.

Cut whisker in half, seperate the string insert whisker and tie in place with a piece of serving.

I use the heavy duty whiskers. Cut them 6" long, fold them in half so they are still 6". Have someone hold the bow with on a bench, string up. Tie a real tight granny knot.

Then grab on half, pull down hard and cut with a pair of scissors to your desired length, repeat on the other side. The key is a tight knot and pulling down hard.

A quick way use a small black plastic zip tie.

i just tie them in a granny knot, i've used artificial sinew and zip ties and really worked to get a nice round puff, but the sinew just didn't seem to hold them securely and was a pain to use. the ones tied with sinew fell apart after about a thousand shots. the zipties are pretty easy to do right, but i prefer the knot. i also leave mine fairly long. i'd love to try using the braided line if i serve them again, seems like it would be a great choice.

I put wiskers on every bow we make.I split the string in half.Put the wisker in the split string and tie a overhand knot.They wont move up and down the string or come apart.I find they work best 14" from bow tip.

I like mine 10" from tips and use zip ties.

I cut a bundle of the strip 3" long.Then I wrap them around the string so it looks like a rolled cigarette.Then I take some Dacron,make an overhand knot(TIGHTLY),wrap once,another overhand knot,then wrap once more and a square knot(Bascially two overhand knots in a row).Cut them ends of the dacron so about 3/16 is left.Melt the ends,then dab with super glue.Pull the strands apart some and they will open and seprate by themselves after some shooting.

I place mine 12" from where the string loses contact with the limb (on a recurve).I never had any of them I've installed move on me.
