European Skull Mount (pic)
« on: January 04, 2010, 04:11:00 PM »
Well I managed to save up enough bottle pickin money to buy a new longbow and wool vest. I decided on the Samick Outlander 68 inch 45# since the price was right and I have had nuthin but good experiences with other Samick products. Anywho decided to take her hunting and made my first kill with her on the first day out. Here is a pic of the finished product...

And on a side note I think this is my lucky bow. The next two photos are of me preparing to take the bows maiden shot and the second photo is the result. Shot really well that day. Really am loving that straight grip.

Just simmered the skull in boiling water for a couple a hours digging out the pieces with a lobster fork. Then washed it in warm water with dish soap and glued the top and bottom jaw together. First try at this sorta thing and I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.

more than likely how we did it back in the 60's - cardboard, set edge-wise to the front, and compressed from the top.

It is a material used for sound proofing. Often called Celutex.

We called it Buffalo Board when I use to build houses back it the day, it went under the siding on new construction. An archery shop in Des Moines IA had it in its range and it holds up well for many years.

That's great...but you should have done a full body mount in some kind of action pose...kind of like this one....
