shaft logo removal
« on: January 05, 2010, 06:08:00 AM »
I know this has probably been discussed before, but what are some good ways to remove the logo from carbon shafts?  Gentle scraping? Acetone? The warning on acetone is a little frightening - - not even close to a pilot light in the room, etc.  I'd probably have to work indoors at this time of the year.  Suggestions appreciated.

the old beman ics 500 ventures used a gray logo that was hard to see and pretty much blended into the carbon, BUT the new 500 bowhunters (same shaft as the ventures) has this bright, icky orange/white logo that HAD to GO ... a little acetone on a paper towel and logo begone!  :D

Use a hair dryer or hot air gun to warm up the shaft, don't overheat it, then use the acetone. This works very well.

Acetone or Laquer thinner on a rag, then throw the rag outside to get rid of the smell. Or work in garage as it only will take a wipe or two. I have never had it do any damage to a shaft and I have been stripping the logo off them for a long time. Good luck
