help me find a product???
« on: January 05, 2010, 10:46:00 AM »
Okay, time to tap into the hive!

A few years back, a friend of mine bought a set of stamped metal rope sheeves/ block and tackle that were really slick.  They worked just like a regular pulley type block and tackle but weren't much bigger than a pack of cigarettes.  There were no actual pulleys but instead had a curved lip that the rope ran over like it would a pulley.  He got them to take on an elk hunt so we could hang up a heavy critter easier.  I'm trying to find out the name and if they are still made or not.

Anybody familiar with these???
Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Well I bought some with pulleys from a place called Harbor Freight.  They were cheap, light, and small.  I needed them to  pull whitetail out of hollars. (hollows for the northern folks here)
They work great.  Hope this helps.

Nope, these things don't have any moving parts.  Totally rugged and the plates nest together and go into a small carry case.  You provide the rope.  I do recall you could set them up for various amounts of mechanical advantage depending on how you threaded them and that there was a notch in a corner so that you could pull the rope into it and it would "bite" to lock the load suspended.  Worked awesome on elk.

** Just had a flash but for some reason I'm thinking they might have been made in Australia???

Is this what you're looking for Dave?

I have a set of these and they work well.  Not as smooth as wheeled pulleys but easier to carry and functional.

Looks like a good little item for a few sponsors to offer.  The link above is for a dealer in Alaska but I believe you are correct regarding the Australian origin.

Good luck with them Dave.  Happy New Year!
