Leather Side Quivers

Does anybody have a pattern/pictures of a leather side quiver they have made or used? I would like one, and after reading a lot about leather working I understand why they charge so much for one, so I would like to try my hand at it. The only place that I have found a patterns does not have a side quiver.

dunno whatcha mean by 'side quiver', but unless you meant a stalker side quiver, here's side and hip i designed ...

Like Rob, I'm not sure what type quiver you mean.   I think what some folks call a hip quiver is what others call a side quiver.   Anyway, if hip/belt quiver is what you're talking about, try this:

I got this from Gray Buffalo's site when he had one. I made a couple from this pattern. Easy to follow & makes a nice quiver.

Sorry I am looking for a stalker side quiver style, more than a hip quiver.

Dick: I had looked at your Lakota's before and they are not exactly what I was looking for.

Butch: Do you happen to have any pictures of the final products? I think that is the most like the one that I am thinking of.

I dont know if you need the stiffners though, my chief doesnt have them running length wise and she works great.  It does have one around the hole ends to help keep there form.

I do add a hunk of foam to the open end (opposite side the bh's would be on), to keep the arrows spaced apart.  Cut notches around the outer edge and slip it in..then slide your arrows into each individual cut out...it'll keep the feathers from rustling together to much or getting mashed down in the rain.  Works really well!

I am in the process of making my boys (3 and 5) a back quiver each.  Nothing fancy in the pattern, just a Hill style.  The fancy thing is the material.  Skunk hide.  It has been tough to make. A little smelly...ok alot smelly.  When the hides get finished with the tanning process they won't smell, but until then...

My wife is not a real big fan of the idea.  She thought it was great until she found out that it is a DIY project.   I will end up with about $20 in both quivers, not too bad I don't think.  

I will be sure to put up some pics when I get them finished.  I have been told I was crazy for making them out of skunks, but I think it will be worth it for the kiddos.  They will surely be unique.
