Wood arrow help for Griffin
« on: January 17, 2010, 12:16:00 PM »
Just picked up a new to me Griffin, and I'm thinking about trying some wood arrows with it.
The bow is 48# @ 28" (I draw around 27 1/2", so maybe 46#).
I would like to shoot a 28"-28 1/2" arrow.
Centering the string visually on the limbs to check centercut, it looks to be almost 1/4" from center with the shelf plate included, etc.

What spine would get me close?   :help:

Thanks everybody.    :wavey:

MRD,

I shoot a 46# Rose Oak that is cut past center with a fast flite string.  I shoot 55#-60# shafts that fly great.

Dont know if this will help at all, but my Griffin is 56@28 (I draw 28)and LOVES CE Heritage 150s, at 29.5" 50 grain brass insert and 125 heads.
I have shot limited woodies with it, but the ones that flew best were 60-65 ramin cut to 29.5" and 125 tips. The 50-55 Chundoo and Cedars flew a bit sloppy.

On another note, Izzy has experience with woodies and Griffins, he may be able to help out more.

I shoot everything from 500 MFX to 750 grain ash shafts outa my 46lb Griffin so the bow is not too fussy.I would think a 30 to 31 inch 55-60lb shaft will work for you. This advice is in no way derived from any specific formula but I think you will be suprised at how tolerant of spine they are.

I have a Kanati, 50# @ 28 inches.  My draw length is the same as yours.  I'm shooting 29 inch POC shafts with 145 grain heads and have good arrow flight. Hope this helps.
