I was certified for my school as a NASP instructor. I am not a phys. Ed. teacher(which is a part of the program) so I offer a club for the 7th and 8th graders The program's goal is to get kids excited about archery. It tries to level the playing field by making every kid shoot the same bow and same arrow so skill is what differentiates the shooters. They organize state and national competitions. It is fairly easy to get a team to qualify because the real goal is for the kids to feel successful. They have a perfect safety record with tens of thousands of students going through the program. Go to
NASP to find some info and order the DVD. It will sell any administrator. Mathews and the other sponsors have made it so the initial package is very affordable for the amount of equipment supplied, and a school can't get it until instructors are trained. It is still instinctive archery, and it is not a far leap from genesis bows to traditional equipment. By the way I allow any bow. The students just need to have their parents bring it to school and drop it off with me.
