We cant shoot any carp til the 15th of may in NY, doesn't make much sense to put a season on an invasive species.
Proverbs 12:27
The lazy do not roast any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

A friend and I shot the Great Miami near Dayton this past weekend.  In about four hours we put 40 or so common carp in the boat.  Nothing really big but solid fish...and man did it feel good to be out!

make that "carp"

Oh, never mind, I had it right the first time!

I gotta agree with you Jim.  It seems the state would want to get rid of them!

These pics make me want to head out again, but we got a few more months to wait up here in Manitoba.

wow, different worlds there!
As the carp is a beloved game fish here, i know a guy who would pay around 5-8 grand for the carp pictures in this thread, alive though.

Great shooting nevertheless!

Axel, different worlds indeed.  Around here they are an invasive species that can wreak havoc with the native gamefish populations.  Most states, Connecticut included, have no closed season and an unlimited creel limit.  Some areas have taken some drastic, and expensive, measures to get rid of them.

Well, I sure didn't think the fish would be in the shallows just yet, BUT, thankfully I was wrong. Headed out to my honey hole after dropping a few bucks on a fishing license and had a blast.
Looking forward to a sunny day to hit em again. I was lucky enough to take one of my best shots yet, the ol' hip shot. Couldn't believe I made that shot.
Anyone in southern Ohio wondering if it's possible this time of year .... here ya go

I am not in carp hunting country now; but when I was it seemed like when the dandelions came into bloom; the carp were spawning..

Lots of fun ! Longest I ever got was a land locked one- that was a skinny 36"  - heaviest was just over 40 pounds.

 Its fun  :)

I have a farmer that lets me throw them in is manure spreader. There are some lakes in Wisconsin that have dumpsters out for the purpose of carp
