first time shooting a 1969 Bear SK
« on: January 24, 2010, 01:34:00 AM »
The bows I've shot in my short time in trad. archery are. a 1970's BP colt, 70's grizzly, 59 Grizzly (wish I hadn't sold!) a Hummingbird Bamboo Kingfisher and now my 69 SK. I can't believe how much I like this bow! I've got smaller hands and the grip just fits. I love the way it insets a bit from the riser and almost feels like my hand is part of the bow.  I'm a little worried however about shooting it to much. it's not in perfect shape but not bad either. has one 4" stress line in the top limb and one 4" in the bottom limb.  Should I be using this as my every day bow to "learn" on? What do ya guys think?  You may think I'm crazy, but I like it as much as the Hummingbird... I think.

My 67½ SK has had those stress marks for twenty years and I shoot it on a regular basis.

Good for you! I'm really enjoying my '69 K-Hunter.

I won't worry about a couple small stressers they really don't hurt anything. If you wanted you could buy a small syringe and some loc tite and inject them with the LT but 99% of the time they will not get any worse or cause any problems with your bow they just look ugly thats for sure bd

I shot a 68 Super K this past week.  Same thing as the 69.  My thoughts were:  They sure haven't improved much in the past 42 years!!!

Those Super Kodiaks were/are FINE bows and I'm going to have one shortly.
