Thinking of skinning my K-MAG?
«

I love my little K-Mag. I'm not shooting it much right now because I want my first kill to be with my JV Outback. I have been kicking the idea around of skinning it. It's such a neat little bow and I fully intend on hunting with it in the (hopefully) near future. It's a Gainesville bow, so it's not a collector item or anything and I bought it used. I would like to see it dressed up a bit and snake skins seem like a nice natural camo too.
I don't know man?......
Whatcha' think?

If by skinning you mean putting snake skins on (I'm still kinda new to trad and I dont quite know all the lingo)and your on a budget like me I would check these out.
http://www.onestringer.com/index.php?page=mods/Products/showprod&scatid=1
ya they will only look real on take-downs and one peices that there is not one strip going all the way along the back of the bow and ya they are not real but once I get the money for a new bow and I decide I want some skins on it these are what I'm gonna get

Hey tradsniper,
If you look in the "How To" section you can see how to do it....even on a budget. I believe it's "Skinning a Wapiti".

Not a very good picture but I skinned the 70 K Mag several years ago and plan on doing the newer one in the near future.

That does look nice Craig!
I have one major concern. On the front of the newer bows your fingers go around the front of the riser. I'm wondering if sweat, general handling and such will make the skins separate from the backing in that area? I guess extra care and finishing in that area? That's also where the two skins would have a seam.
Hmmm??

I agree with tradsniper try Onestringers Limbsations. Also if you’re worried about the grip area try using a Shur-Grip or wrapping it with some leather.

Talked to Bob Morrison this afternoon. For about a hundred bucks more the bow can be done by him. I figured the cost for ME to do it would be about $80. Bob will do it for $175.
I just happened to make that amount at work tonight......Coincidence???
It's a no-brainer. =0)

Well, the bow has been with Bob for about a week now. I can't wait to see what he does. I told him I couldn't make a decision and to surprise me.
Just a few more weeks..........=0)
