Kalamazoo- didnt buy a bow but........
« on: January 30, 2010, 09:36:00 PM »
Had a great time. Trad Expo is a gathering of good people, and no shortage of good stuff to look at, play with and buy. I left work this morning at 8 am to temps hovering around "0".
Typical for expo weekend, seems every time I go its ice cold, or snowing to beat the band. Since I had a 3 hr drive, I was happy that it was cold instead of snowing.

After shootin the breeze with some friends I havent seen since summer, I headed for the booth of Prairie Traditions/Bow Hospital. There I finally met Joe in person. Great fella, thats for sure. We could have talked elk huntin all afternoon, but there was something else on my mind.

Joe(Whip) had a Panther Hunter pyramid tent he was trying to sell, and it just so happens it was the exact tent I was wanting. 12x12, tipi door, stove flap. I gladly took it off Joe's hands, and can't wait to try it out with some winter camping/rabbit hunting.

I spent a fe more hours lookin at bows, but mostly visiting with friends. Soon as I got home I set my new tent up in the yard. What a piece of cake. Thanks Whip.

That's a nice tent AA!

What length is the center pole?

Stay warm and shoot straight, Shinken

!2 X 12 is a very nice size. I've owned a couple of those and some larger when I was doing 1840's rendezvous. They can handle the wind better than any tent I've ever had before. In fact i once had a tipi set up beside me and we had an awful storm. The tipi blew over but my pyramid held fast.

I camped in some really cold weather in one too. I used a round kerosene heater. It stayed toasty as all get out.
Congratulations and enjoy.
God bless,Mudd

Yep, Joe is a special person indeed. I always make a point to get a hug and a few minutes chat with Irene as well. They go together like bows and arras!

Wow, you didn't waste any time getting that one up John!  Very cool - I know you are going to enjoy that tent - they make a great camp.  If you need any help at all give me a call anytime.
Thanks!!

Whip was busy with customers but I did get a chance to talk with Irene. She almost sold me a customers 60 Kodiak off the repair rack before Joe turned around and caught her at it. He wasn't trying to stop her mind you. He just said I would need to pay more.

I had thing out of the box soon as I pulled into the garage. As for my axe, I busted it the other day splitting firewood. Figures, as I had just refinished the handle! That was my camp axe, and  I was kind of partial to it. I'm  workin today, but tommorrow when I get home I'm gonna make a proper set of poles for it and put the awning on it to try it out.

I can't decide yet what I want to do as far as a stove for it, looked a several, but can't decide if I want a heavier duty one, or a lightweight collapsible stove. Lots of options to sort through.

This is gonna be an awesome tent for the deer huntin on the island, as well as Ohio this fall, elk hunting, and summer shoots. GLLI will be perfect with this one and our wedge tent.

I know the kids aare gonna be buggin me to go winter camping and bunny huntin, so I'll need to get something right quick.
