"I was wondering if gasket lacquer was water proof"

No, GL is NOT waterproof. GL is for fairweather target shooters.

What Steve said. It starts to crack/flake after being wet for a couple hours. But hard to beat for 3D target arrows (doesn't stick) or making up some quick "disposable" stumpers.

I use the GL for my squirrel arrows 1 or 2 coats and ready to fletch up. I try not to spend to much time on throw away arrows. Flint

One of my partners almost missed out on one of the biggest dall rams ever killed with a stick because he had GL arrows.  Thank GOD he checked them before he got his shot and straightened the damn boomerang.....

I have tried the eco dipper out on some very thin materials and all I had to do was run it through a couple of extra times to get the finish I wanted. I think you could also just enlarge the little hole slightly so it does not wipe quite as hard on the shaft that way you could use varnish or what ever else you want. I like the fact that I can do 12 arrows in about 2 min with GL and be done, so far that has not been a problem with the GL drying to quickly in the can.

I just got done doing some checking around and the gasket that is used in the eco dipper was and still is used to put water stain on arrows by a large arrow company. So it should be able to put on any finish no mater the viscosity with out any adaptions or modifications. Like I said previously I put on some thin stuff to try it out and it worked OK for me.
