Ok I went with alot of your recommendations and bought the Garmin 60 CSX I am so far very pleased with it. I would like to know of any good places to get Maps for this unit. Free maps are better than having to put out more money.

I would also buy a good compass. Just to make sure when you are off in bula bula land that the GPS compass is correct. Ask me why I think that is necessary.Gary

The Map Source series are the only ones I know of. You can get them through Garmin on line or you could check the GPS Store online as well. I use the DVDs vs the SD cards. This allows me to have all map on my computer.
As far as getting a good compass I know what sage is talking about. Any time you change the batteries on the 60csx make sure you re calibrate the compass.
