New to you
« on: February 04, 2010, 10:44:00 AM »
Hello to all, I'm from Indiana and am fairly new to trad archery (though the first bows I hunted with when i was young were recurves). What brought me back was a desire to take a deer with a bow that I made myself. Have done the MAKE but not the Take, lol. Have learned much here and other places but still know very little compared to you all. Have made a few boo backed Osage longbows, antler handle knives, calls, and river cane and bamboo arrows (with your help). Question, I purchased a bundle of 500 bamboo shafts awhile back some are very yellow some are green, do the green ones need to dry and turn yellow or is it just a color variation? Sorry so windy and thanks for all the help you have and will continue to provide me!

Can't help you with the question about the shafts - I have never made any myself, so see, you already know more than me!
I'm sure someone with knowledge will be along shortly.  In the meantime, welcome to the light!   :wavey:

Hey! Another Indiana T-Ganger! Have you all noticed how many big name bowhunters have started in Indiana?

We were talking about this at the bunny hunt. It's just that none of them STAYED in Indiana! It may not be the BEST state to hunt in but it's not the worst either.

Welcome!

I think I found the answer elsewhere. If you are interested, they said that if dried indoors out of sunlight dried boo wood still have a green tint. Thanks again!
