The Oryx and Ibex hunts are completely different types of hunts.
Hunting for Oryx is like drive by hunting in South Central LA.
Lots of trucks and suvs 1 hunter and 3 buddies a vehicle,
pull over and shoot what moves. Not much sport to it. They are hunted pretty much all year, and getting close enough to shoot
one with a bow is almost impossible. There are a few out of the
way areas to spot and stalk. Also, on range is only a 2 day hunt.
They are by far the best tasting game meat you'll ever eat, makes elk taste like old mutton.
The Ibex hunt is one of toughest hunts you'll experience.
Very rocky, lots of climbing, and rough country. You will see
plenty of animals and not many people. Bow only hunt in
January is 2 weeks long. There are world class 45" to 50" curl
Ibex in the Florida Mts. Great true hunting experience.
Both tags are $1610 for out of state residents, and this year is
upfront pay. New Mexico blocks 10% of all its tags for non
residents. This year will be easiest draw year for all species
including Elk, in many years due to the economy and rules
changes.
Hope this helps
