Shrew bow bolt system

Why use this system over any other takedown system.I am looking to buy a scout and it has the bow bolt,it seems like you would not have enough wood around the bolt, for strength.please tell me your thougths.Thanks. Jerry

Its a great system for the small riser bows like the shrew. I have shot a shrew with a bow-bolt for quite a while. Its the best Take down system out there in my opinion.
In fact i would not buy a shrew without one
There is more to the Hunt.. then the Horns

Jerry,

PM me with more info about that bow, and I can tell you what's in the riser.  I have done a whole bunch of BowBolts in Shrews now, and had issues with only one.  That was my mistake by using solid gabon ebony, which is too brittle.

they are extrememly strong and you should have no hesitations in ordering one with this system.

I totally and completely agree with Andy. (So what else is new?) The only other takedown system that I might consider would be the Socket that Big Jim and Black Widow are using on some of their bows, but I have absolutely no personal experience with the Socket. On the other hand, I have 5 bows (4 of them Shrews) with the Bow Bolt, and it is an excellent system. Gregg does a great job of constructing his bows that use the Bow Bolt so that there will not be any problem with strength. I know he learned from the one incident he mentioned so that it won't happen again. I don't know whether the Socket system would even be compatible with the Shrew grip or whether Gregg would ever consider installing that system when the Bow Bolt works so well and he has a lot of experience with it. You know the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
