I use a split piece of a wood arrow. With a piece of smooth leather over it.

I have used either leather or small strips of black electric tape with mole skin over it to build out the side plate on my riser.

As i had to build out a bit further i used pieces of cabel ties glued together and covered with velcro

This is how the man who helped me build a bow showed me. He took a razorblade and tapered the edge of piece of leather that he had cut out. That way it lays down nicely with the wood riser, looking like it is inset in the wood. He also put a small piece of wood under the shelf piece and did the same tapering to this piece as well. On my other bows I use velcro...but I think this way looks the best.
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Double sided carpet tape works great for this! Plus you don't have to mess around with gluing this and that etc...

Bought some kind of rubber pieces at Low's that has adhesive on the back and its easy to trim down to size.

Put the velcro over that.
