Bow racks and limb twist

I made abow rack a few months ago. horizontal like a lot i saw posted here. today I pulled down a bow that i dont shoot often and the limbs had twisted. I then inspected the others a most were starting to twist except the one i shoot regularly.

What gives?

Can they be fixed?

I don't have that problem.  I was sure to mount it in a room where the bows are never in sunlight and were the temperature & humidty don't vary much.

Could that be the cause?

interior wall on the northside of the house so no sunlight. the vents are on the other side of the room. hmm

have mine hung the same way,no problems. do you have it near a heat source? if so, move it.might be your problem.

You can fix them temporarily by reverse twisting the limb tips with your hand.  It doesn't take much of a twist to get them back in allignment.  Then after a while you will look at it and it will be back out of allignment, and you'll have to do it again.  I have a couple of bows that do that, including my favorite bow, and I wish they wouldn't, but it doesn't seem to be a big deal, as long as the twist is minor and can be corrected.

I have all my bows on a horizontal rack and have never had a problem with limb twist. Only way I know for a limb to twist is by stringing it incorrectly or leaving it strung in heat.

I keep all mine strung hanging by the string in two spots in my basement with no sunlight.

i have that same problem.  i have not figured out what causes it

some were strung, some were not. I always use a stringer. I just dont know what it was.

Are the two arms that holds up the bows parallel?

Moisture, Heat,sunlight and the fluctuation of them all.Just because you have a finish on a piece of wood doesn't mean it cant absorb the above mentioned.IMHE

Anyone hang their bows by the string and have a quiver attached to the bow? That is also a no-no.

Im frightened also !!!!  I hang my bow on a Horizontal rack with 2 pegs that are slightly angled to the wall to prevent the bow from slideing off the rack, I always unstring my bows using a bow stringer. I dont want my bow getting any twists in it !

I've been using bow racks that store bows horizontally for more than 30 years.  Have never, ever had limbs twist while on the rack.  I seriously doubt your twisted limbs are caused by the bow rack, unless it's way out of kilter.
