Broadheads in plains quivers?
« on: February 13, 2010, 01:43:00 PM »
Im tempted to pull out my homemade plains quiver for my upcoming trip tp Hog Heaven. This is my favorite quiver for stumping small game and 3d but ive never toted broadheads in it.Im thinking abot putting foam in 2" pvc tube and pushing them into the foam but thats gonna take up some space.Other than those leather single covers from 3 Rivers what have you all tried.

Izzy,
Sorry, don't know what to tell you. I owned a plains style I'd made for myself. Must say, it was nice. Arrows went all the in to the nock. Worked great till one morning when I walked thru a field of prairie grass to my stand. When I got there, I didn't have any arrows!   :scared:   I found them, except one. Never was very confident in the quiver after that. The foam & pvc should work pretty good tho. Wish you luck.
God Bless

I cut out an old Selway hood foam and jammed it in to the bottom. It worked good enough but wasn't perfect. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

On one of my quivers I placed the bottom of a 32oz drink cup in the quiver with foam in it. The one I use now, just has leather sheves? over the broadheads. If you make some inure that they have a ties string to keep them on your arrow as you pull them out, other wise they fall off in the bottom. They are difficult to get out!

Izzy,
Take an old leather belt and cut it in strips to fit the bottom of the quiver and glue them together with Barge cement,Then get your foam and cut the shape and glue the leather to the bottom and wrap some around the sides of the foam and glue them. Then you can put it in the quiver and take it out when you want.
