How far to Flu-Flu Arrows Fly
« on: February 14, 2010, 08:01:00 PM »
Sorry for a newbie question but I haven't hunted with trad gear yet, but how far to flu flu's travel when you shoot them.

Are they "fast" out to 20 -30 yards and then slow quickly. Just curious.

Most flu-flus fly about 50 yards.. But I like a low profile flu-flu which make them travel that far.. Are flu-flu fast out to 20 yards I myself think they are.. I found with my flu's slow down about 30 yards out but I shoot 60 and 70 pound longbows.. I'm sure some othe guys will have some great info..

Well it depends on how many feathers you have on your flu-flu 8^).

Out of a 60-65# bow, 6 fletch (full height 4")will go about 75-80yards and spiral flu-flu's (2@8" full height) will go about 35 yards.

If you are shooting into the trees, you will probably not lose arrows....those big fletches are easy to see.  You are more likely to have those big feathers hang up in the tree limbs....especially those spiral wrapped feathers.  Those things are arrows waiting to stay in the trees.
