List of Outfitters???
« on: February 15, 2010, 12:42:00 AM »
Hello gents, its been a while for me on here. Mods if this is not the place for this please let me know.

My brother and I are planning a bear hunt with trad gear. Hopeing for 2 bears each- 1 with flint arrow, and 1 with a flintlock would be nice- all the gear has been hand-made by me and my brother. To us this will be our "congrats for graduating with a Masters degree with your sanity intact" gift to ourselves. We have talked with several outfitters in the states and Canada already and have literally been laughed at for wanting to use trad gear. When we said we wanted to use flint they said "are you crazy?" So is it possible for some of you fellas who have been successful with bears to offer some outfitters for consideration?

Pictures would be great. Chances at color phase bears would be nice. This hunt would mean alot to us as we have worked hard to attain our Masters degree in Forestry in only 3 semesters-1/2 the time of other grad students. So this is  will be a well deserved treat.

Hunters Point Guide Service..they are sponsors here. Haven't hunted with them, but have heard good things. They cater to trad gear.

An outfitter in Alberta would be your best bet if your goal is two bears each with a good chance at a color phase bear.

I hunted in Alberta (with TWO bear tags) with Bear Trap Outfitters.  Trad friendly and a good bear camp. Many color phase bears. There was another longbow hunter in camp the week I hunted.  A lot of fun!

Contact Mark Buehrer at Bowhunting Safari Consultants... He has never let me down when booking a trip for me.. Even better BSC is a FREE service to bowhunters.

Sounds like you want to take two bears each? If so then you need to head to Canada. If one bear is enough click on the site under my Avatar. Your primitive gear will be welcome and the ownere, Eldon Jandreau is a long bow shooter. You won't be disappointed or discouraged from bringing your primitive gear.If you need more inof just click on the Contact menu and I'll get your email. i check them every day.
