The best and worst.....of you!
« on: February 16, 2010, 08:00:00 PM »
Hey guys, just wondering if any of you wanted to share your best and/or worst shots while bow hunting.
I'll go first with my worst, its hard to admitt, but my very worst was when I missed at four different bucks all within a matter of minutes when I suddenly became unglued. It happened when my best friend and and bowhuntin partner where working our way through an old apple orchard teying to fiend a spot for an evening hunt. When suddenly two does came rushing out after us, they went by us at a breakneck speed at about twenty yards. I knew what was up so I knocked an arrow when a nice buck stepped out(my buddy said it was a big six) at twenty yards. The shot felt perfect till the deer jumped at the sight of the two does and I watched my arrow go right where it woulda been a perfect hit. Then two fork horns came out right behind him, one of wich turned and came straight at me, all I remember thinking was this is gonna be a chip shot untill I watched my fletching zip right between his horns at ten paces. I tried like hell to pull myself together, when the other forkhorn was standing broadside at around twenty five paces a little stick somehow managed to get in the way and sent that shaft off into never never land. My buddy managed to hit one of the fork horns( he shoots a wheel bow) high wich his arrow merly grazzed a small strip of skin off his back. I then drew my last arrow on the spike buck wich was only ten yards away and sent that arrow right over top his back. With both ourquivers emty, all we could do was sit back and watch as three of the four bucks fought for the does all within fourty yards of us still oblivious to our presence. After the deer dispersed I managed to find only one arrow, and when we came back to the spot where my pal had hit the buck, he looked at me and said dont move! I slowly turned around and right where I had just pulled my arrow from the ground....was a monster eight point lookin straight at me. It  eas almost as if he where saying haha dumb @$$ caught ya!! I thought I was gonna have a breakdown.  :(
