I used to be a Turkey freak. Growing up in one of the biggest turkey counties in the number one Turkey state in America didn't help me a bit...

I was a member and used to attend many state level NWTF banquets.  Remember Terrys post about what happened to Bass Fishing...?  I saw the same with NWTF.  It all got to be about status and MONEY.  This was sad because I always enjoyed the banquets...

I'm a Silver Life Member but with that being said ,I have Never have worked on a committee or etc.  Growing up arguably in the number Call makin state, we're littered with history of the sport. I have never been to a convention but when you have the majority of callmakers in the country come to show their best?!..i may pass out going from booth to booth.....

Mudd....NWTF is about Money! make no mistake.. so is the Boy Scouts of America which i give handsomely also. I do not go to any local banquets or state , etc.I could careless about a raffle girl and bad whiskey.! NWTF ,to me is not about the banquets but the mission. Thank goodness Rob Keck is gone!

Scb......i will not be selling , just cruising. Actually i'll be a fact finding mission. I have fell off in the deep end on Scratch Boxes...I have made a dozen and really like my design so I'll be there to see who wins that division and try to learn some pointers. Might even buy 2-3 or three and take home and run through a bandsaw to see whats whats!!!!!!!....Scratch Boxes....can almost Jake gobble on one!

Scratch boxes? Now that is old school, I like it!!

I have a couple that I really like to use, one is a bit fragile but I carry it anyway. Cannot remember who made it, and I'm traveling right now or I'd look.

I love using those calls on public or heavily hunted private land. They seem to have a unique enough sound and not many hunters (at least in my area) use them.

Good luck on your quest.

The old order is passing. Swiftly receding into memory are the days of strong, earnest men who followed an atavistic yearning to pit their skills against wild animals.

wapiti792,

You 're right about those Paluh paintings, I've got one with turkeys and the indians and it's one of my favorites for sure.

Good look with the turkeys.
