what makes it a HH style quiver?

Probably a stupid question, but I was reading about the Howard Hill competition at the GLLI and I don't understand what the difference is between a Howard Hill quiver and a regular back quiver.

I think I read that Howard Hill like his quiver alittle softer to mold to his back and they were larger then your average back quiver.But I'm not for sure?

I have bought a few and made some. Basically it comes down to the leather, dimensions, and the strap, and how it fits when on the back.

Leather is smooth side out (cow) or latigo (horse), and 20-22" long depending on the length of your blunt or field arrows; feathers about 1-2" above the top of the quiver.

Bottom is oval so it lays flat when worn, bottom is 4-5" x 8" and top is bit wider at 9". Leather can be different weight but medium is what I like best.

The top is reinforced with double layer of leather.

Strap is 1.25 to 1.5" wide and 29" or more in length. The strap is attached about 3.5" below the top and on the backside, 1-2" from the fold.
The strap is held at the bottom with a boot lace and to the strap, making it adjustable.

The bottom is oval, attached by leather boot lace, usually a whip stitch. The side and top is also hand sewn with boot lace.

The quiver can be adjusted easily to the right position, and can be pulled under the arm on the off side when moving through thick cover. The design allows it to lay flat, and conform to the back, so arrows don't make any noise. You can see two on the following site. click on the image to enlarge. It looks like the quiver on the right is medium weight and the heavier leather is on the left. Colors may be different.
