Ordered my bow!
« on: February 21, 2010, 12:13:00 PM »
I ordered my Lost Creek Friday.Chad was great to talk to.I was going to order a actionwood riser but he talked me into dymondwood.I was all worried about cracking but he said not to.Did I make the right choice? How many of you have dymondwood or actoinwood risers? Thanks,Bucky.

Chad and I have talked about this numerous times. A few years ago there was a bad batch of Dymondwood in I believe Cocobola and Charcoal. I had a piece of it crack just sitting on the shelf. However, I have hundreds of bows out there with Dymondwood handles and I have never had one problem with it. Chad has made quite a few himself without problems. It's not anymore prone to crack than any other wood in my opinion. Dont worry about it.

Bowyers know best BUCKY.    :readit:    They know what works best  in their design.I've said it a lot on here. Listen to the bowyer they'll tell you their recommendations and what works  in their bows. Riser woods, limb cores, etc etc. Most like a heavier wood in their risers. Makes for a more accurate shooting bow. Helps absorb hand shock too. I don't think Jason or Chad would steer you wrong.        Congrats on your new bow order Bud! But you know what I like!!!    :goldtooth:      :biglaugh:  By the way does this mean you selling the Mahaska???

Hey Bucky,
I think you'll be pleased. Chad knows his stuff. He's been right on the suggestions he made on the 2 Lost Creeks he's built for me.

Bucky, it was good to talk with you about your soon-to-be new longbow. I ordered the gray action wood for the limbs tonight that you requested, as a matter-of-fact. I've built about 200 longbows and 10 recurves and I've never had one fail yet due to use of dymondwood as a riser. I myself was a little concerned in the beginning, sceptical about layers of wood w/phenolic resin laminated together, but after much personnal research and use in both construction and archery use, and I have never encountered a problem in any of these areas. Thanks for the order. Chad

I dont use dymondwood i use actionwood. But,with that being said i wouldnt have a problem with it now.I was concerned like others at first but i think Dymondwood has been used without problems long enough now.Believe me, no bowyer wants to build a riser that will crack any more than you do.Dont worry your bowyer is giving you good information.Trust him.
