Arrow rebuilding question

How do you fellows go about removing old fletching and glue without scratching the shaft?  I'm rehabbing some aluminum arrows I've owned for about 25 years, as the passage of time has taken it's toll on the feathers.

Any time I rehab arrows they get a cap wrap (or cap dip, if you prefer), so I don't worry about scratches too much.  If they bother you, try the fletching removal tool that three rivers sells.  It doesn't leave much in the way of scratches due to the curved blade.

Put some lacquer thinner in a glue bottle and run it along the base of the fletch.  It will soften the glue and the bond.

Lacquer thinner or paint stripper to dissolve the adhesive; plastic scraper or old credit card if needed.
