I have always cut the tips out of my fingers.  I first done it on a Damascus glove and it worked great.  I love that glove except for the fact that it is so thin that it doesn't give much protection.

Another slight problem I have is that when I release the string I will sometimes get a rake across my fingertips that is pretty uncomfortable.

I guess like many I am still searching for the perfect glove.  Those tips on tightening up a Hill glove sound like something I would want to try.  I might order one of the basic gloves and see how that goes.
